Hi.....I have a question regarding worm medicine. My little Zoey, who is 12 weeks old today, had her third series of shots yesterday and her 2nd round of worm medicine to take (series of 3 doses each). She did fine the other times she had her shots and worm meds, but yesterday she had a strange reaction.
I don't know for sure whether it was from the shots or the worming. About an hour after she got home from the vets, I gave her the first dose in this series of worm meds.....then about an hour after that, she started acting really agitated, scratching at her face, jumping all around in her bed, couldn't get comfortable, whimpered,then vomited a large amount. She continued to act agitated, and I checked for any swelling in her mouth or trouble breathing, which she wasn't having, but she kept whimpering and her ears stayed down close to her head....then she had another episode of vomiting. All she wanted to do was climb in my lap and stay there after that, then eventually slept for several hours and then seemed ok. She has since been fine and back to her perky self, eating well and drinking plenty of water.
It is now time for the next dose of worm med today. I am wondering if somehow the larger dose than she had a month ago made her sick. I do not see how she could have worms, since she has never been outdoors or around any other dog feces. I am afraid to give it to her, as she had me sooo worried yesterday.
Do any of you have thoughts on this or advice you can give me??? I would appreciate it.
