If she was really good she would have heard you coming and returned to her crate! That way she could have had free run of the house everyday until you figured out you left the back door open!
My first puppy jumped out of his playpen, pooped on the floor and jumped back in...now, who did he think I was going to blame that on? He was the only puppy in the house!
