I think that once you give in a little it's hard to take it back. I let my kiddos sleep in bed with me on the weekends for about an hour. Not all night, and only 1 night during the week.. so they feel super special when I do that, but thats all they get. If they got to sleep with me every day, it woudln't be special, they would expect it |
I think dogs do not know how to expect things from us or have power struggle with us when it comes to sleeping. They are much more simpler than that. It really stems from the fact that they are creatures of habit and habit is determined by the owner. So if its been made a habit where they sleep in bed every night, come the time they will want to go on the bed because that is what they do every night. So if they are not allowed on the bed usually and just get an hour or two in bed every week, they haven't fall in to the habit/routine yet hence human think they aren't expecting.
