I am sooooo sorry to hear about the loss of your other doggie, I too lost a beloved doggie a few months ago and I know what you are feeling, it is very heartbreaking. On a better note, The new babies couldn't have come at a better time. If you believe in reincarnation, maybe one of the little ones are the one you lost. You now have a sweet little fur angel in heaven.
