I am not sure if this is the right section to post this question but thought some of you breeders with experience would have some insight. One of my yorkies, Kaleigh, is just 7 months old and I just noticed last night that she is in heat already!! I do intend to breed her when she is older (was planning on doing it her second heat) but I never expected her first heat to be this early!!
Other females I have or have had havent had their first heat until they are about 10 months or so.
Is a first heat at 7 months unusual - is it anything to be concerned about? I am of course keeping her away from my male for the next 3 weeks or until I know for sure this has passed.
