how old is Thor? I think we have to remember that dogs are pack animals and when we adopt them we become their pack so that's why Thor wants to be with you every minute you're home including sleeping in your bedroom/bed!
If you had another dog or pet it probably wouldn't be an issue for Thor sleeping with you because he wouldn't be alone. I'm not saying to get another dog I'm just pointing out why he's so unhappy, he's lonely.
BTW, has your boyfriend ever had a dog before? Maybe he doesn't understand the bond we feel with our dogs. We bring our pets into our homes and become their sole source of shelter, food, love and affection and in return they love us unconditionally.
