Was it the WHOLE ear or a piece of the ear? That's the reason why I stay and watch the groomer LIKE A HAWK for the entire process! I never leave, not even for 5 minutes to get some fresh air.
That groomer is seriously lucky that it wasn't one my MY dogs that happened to. There would be no place that groomer could run to that I wouldn't hunt him/her down like the dog he/she is and handle things my own way (and ANYONE who knows me personally knows that I am NOT joking in the least).
I understand accidents happen and no one is perfect ... but don't try to cover it up!! What if that poor dog's ear would have got infected from dirt sticking to the glue?
