 I don't know if it's easier, but is cheap.
My vet suggested me to use a cotton swab with alcohol and you put it in the external ear and you turn it like id you were cleaning your ears. You could ask some help from a friend to maintain your baby steady while you are cleaning the ears. I usually give to my babies some candy, so they don't notice what i'm doing. I do it once a week, and the problems are history...
