HI everyone-this seems to have turned into a heated debate...just wanted to share my story. I owned (RIP) an American Staffordshire Terrier (aka pit bull) a few years back. He was the sweetest and gentlest dog. Thought he was well...the size of a yorkie...anyway, my mother was out walking him one day in broad daylight and out of nowhere, came this Chow. With no provocation whatsoever, the Chow started attacking my mother and my dog. My poor Destiny was trying so hard to defend my mother and himself, he was wrapping himself around my mother with his leash and got bit numerous times because of it as did my mother. If it wasn't for a kind man that saw what was happening and came out with a bat...I dont know what would have happened. I believe, from what I have been told, that he struck the animal on his backside. The dog backed off and ran back to his yard. His owner was an arrogant bastard (excuse my french) and was laughing at the whole scene. I am SO happy that that man used the bat on that dog. I am glad he didnt kill the dog, but I think it was justified to prevent my mother and dog from being severely harmed and I truly thank him.

Now on the other hand, I have a pretty decent background with Amer. Staff. Terriers as my cousins and myself owned them for years. I know they are just as strong as Rottweilers. Now, for me to believe this woman strangled an "attacking" Rottweiler is hard for me to grasp. My cousins dog was 130lbs as well, and I couldnt even WALK him he was so strong and would pull me down the block. If this dog was fighting her back, there is NO WAY she would have managed to strangle it. I think there are definite pieces to the story missing...

oh and Kristy I am soooo sorry to hear about ur cousin. My prayers are with you.
