This is what I use.....EXTREME SILKY SHINE & DETANGLER.. You only use a dime size and rub it into the matted hair and with the comb it will just about come out... My Gwen seems to get mats behind her front legs... I use this product on my Friesian, she loves to rub her mane on the door fronts and her hair gets really matted.. You can also dilute this too...It costs here in NH $18.95 and lasts forever..
