I have great results w/ my small slicker brush.. I start at the bottom & work my way up... IF I come across a tight, stubborn one, I cut a few snips into the mat from the end up, then work it out w/ the brush... Sometimes I do spray it w/ a detangler first, but not always. You'll have to find what works for you. Mine has a very cottony coat.. Works every time
