I sure hope your daughter does well, I think she will, she is young and in good health.
This happened to my hubby last year - well, his was a little different - it was a spontaneous filling up with fluid of the space (called pleural space) around the lung. He had 6000 cc's drained off (think about a 1 liter bottle of coke, it is 1000 cc's) before they finally decided to do the pleuradesis. They never could figure out what was causing it. Anyway, when the pleural space fills up with fluid, the lung collaspes - just like your daughter's did. He was in the hospital 2 weeks also, and he has lots of other health problems, but he recovered.
