For any matts, just take your fingers and kind of pull them apart then take a slicker brush, starting at the very ends of the hair and working back toward the root. Don't let them get so bad that they can't be brushed out. They do need to be brushed and combed daily, and use a good cream rinse made for dogs of course, and hot oil treatments. Make sure their hair and skin doesn't dry out by feeding omega 3 and 6 fatty acids along with a very good diet. Home made is the best.
