When I spoke with CKC last September, they said that the first of the year was their goal for stopping the open reg, depending on if they had met their quota and would be ending the period for each breed. I, like most, hope they end the open registration soon.
I am tired of that being used as a point to argue against organization.
I definately undstand and agree with choosing AKC if your desire is to eventualy show in conformation. However, if you are interested in agility, CKC is very involved in that area so you would definately have more options to weigh there. That was another factor that weighed heavily in my decision.
