Is there any way you or a family member could let him have a pee break during the day...8 hours may ALWAYS be too long for him..he may never be able to hold it that long..so there might not be an answer to that. Like someone said here earlier..I cant hold it for 8 hours so I cant expect my 4 pound yorkie to do something I cant. I hope the x-pen or spare room works for you..all that time in a crate during the day and night is just sooooo long for him..can you imagine how it must feel to be in one tiny room for 8 hours and then again for 6 hours...I think you will BOTH be happier when you get him into the bathroom..its a tough situation...good luck!!
