Mine is 8 months old. I have a baby gate in my kitchen doorway, and a pee pad in the kitchen. She goes on the pads.
The Target in my city had the gates on clearance last week. Mine looks like jail bars, cause Venus will climb (climbed an x-pen in 2 days flat). She walked right through it. I got some plexyglas at Lowes today, they cut it to the width I wanted. I drilled holes in it, and fastened it to the gate tonight. Works great, and she can't walk through.
I'm not wild about potty pads, but at least she has a "designated area" for times I'm not home. And the kitchen is the largest room, that doesn't have carpet. I feel the bathroom is way too small for her, but that's just my opinion.
When I'm home, she'll go outside and potty with my 6 year old yorkie. I let them out together.
I am retired, so its different for most of you than it is for me.
I just won't crate over 4 hours, unless she's beside the bed I'm sleeping in. Least that way she can wake me to go.
I think many cases are differnt though, and many require differnt things. I know if they kept peeing in the crate, I'd quit crating, and find another method. |
