From what I have read, Yorkies are very committed to their owners. The dog I am getting is purebred, with papers. His owners had a baby, and the dog just cannot tolerate the baby, so he is currently staying with the baby's grandmother till he comes to live with me. They have told me he is a bit timid.
First, will this little sweetie bond with me? I am retired, so will have lots of time to spend with him. Also, his name is not to my liking...will he adjust to a new name?
Thank you in advance for any help and advice you can offer! | congrats on your new baby. At first he will probaby be standoffish. he's lived with other people for 15 months and bonded with them so it will probably take a little while for him to become totally comfortable with you. As for his name, you can change it. Just start calling him by it when you get it. You know how you give your pets nicknames after a while of having them and they start to answer to them? same thing applys. He'll figure out that your talking to him.
