Is he sick or is it just a cold? Finnigen had surgery for a broken leg on Jan 5th. This past Thursday I took his bandage off. His incision looked fine. He started to lick so when I can't watch him (when I leave the house or at night), I place a clean gauze pad over the incision and wrap it with a tensor bandage (not tight) then secure it with medical tape (not the clippy thing that comes with the bandages because I didn't want it to pose a chocking hazard). Since last Friday, he has been very tired. Doesn't want to play (but then he hasn't really been interested in his toys since his surgery). He sleeps alot. He is still eating and drinking normally, and he still get's excited about a treat (carrots, celery, apple).
Occasionally his ears and the top of his head are warm and I think he may have a fever. His nose looks a bit runny at times (clear discharge only), and then other times it's warm and dry..
His shots are up to date, he hasn't been in contact with any other animals (other than at the vets on Jan 5th -- but that seems too long ago to have picked something up).
He had one episode of coughing on Sunday, that lasted about 10 minutes.
He appears to me to have a cold, I just wanted to check here to see if anyone thinks I should take him in. I know you can never be too careful but like most I hate to take him in if there's nothing wrong.
He also doesn't appear to be getting any worse, I figured if it was an infection it would appear to worsen. Honestly, he just seems to be feeling under the weather. I have 3 skin kids and this is how they act when they have a cold.
Any advice is welcome!
