Rehoming can be a wonderful thing for the dog if you find the "right" home. Last August we adopted our 3rd yorkie, he was already 5 months old and much larger than my other two kids. It was wonderful, he seemed to fit in with our routine and other babies... but shortly after he was neutered he became very agressive with Windsor, my male. At only 7 months old I truly think he'd have killed him if left alone with him. They were seperated between my BF's house and mine, it was miserable. My brother took him and it has been great for both of us, he has an older Lab who was in need of company during the day and someone to get her up and moving and a little more active. I still get to see him and I know he is in a loving home and will be taken care of.
Do what is best for both of you.
