You are thinking with your heart. You are trying to do what is best for Riley and this will also be what will be best for you.
It will take a lot of soul searcing but you will make the right decision that is in the best interest for all of you.
Don't let anyone change your mind- you know the situation and the problems that are being faced. A new home and family may make the world of differance to Riley. Sometime we have pets that we love dearly but we just can't meet the needs that they have. There may be another family who has just the home for him. He may need to be placed in a home that has no other pets.
That does not mean that Riley is a bad dog or that you are a bad person. It just means that you love this little guy so much that you are looking at his needs above yours.
