My Mylan has very silky fur compared to my other babies and it tends to matt even when I brush it every day. Someone told me about Bio Silk shampoo (for humans) and the Bio Silk conditioner. (I think it's the Bio Silk Therma Silk kind.) Anyway... I started using it on Mylan and I can actually miss a day of brushing and it's still matt free!
When any of them do get matts, I use a Matt Breaker comb from Petsmart. It's a comb with 6 curved razor blades that comb through the matt without cutting the fur. It's the best think I've ever used. Petsmart's groomers use the disposable one. I use the one that you change the blades out periodically. It runs about $20.00, but it's work every penny. You can see it on Petsmart's website.
