You can take a couple pieces of fleece that are about 10 X 6. Then sew a rectangular shape about 3 X 6 in the center and leave a small opening to stuff it with fiber fill to make a small pillow shape. Also you can place a couple of bells in the center of the fiber fill to make it jingle. Then finish off the opening. After that I cut fringe around the outer edges and they have a nice little toy that is big enough for you to play tug of war with. Something else they really like is the little frisbies that you can get in the party supply areas of most stores. You can get like 6 of them in a package as party gifts for kids birthdays. Or a lid from a small butter bowl also works nice.
