My little male is completely affectionate although he is more independent than my female min schnauzer who is glued to my side always. My Max was very easy to housebreak and was reliable within 2 months of getting him. He is now 9 months old. I am lucky that I am a stay at home mom who could devote all my waking hours to him when we first brought him home. I think that is the key. You need to be with him at all times the first few weeks and never leave him. Being in school will be difficult to be consistent and that is the only way to reliably housebreak a dog. I don't even like having my kids watch the puppy because they are not as vigilant as me. This puppy was supposed to be my daughters, but I knew that as a teenager she would not want to devote her free time to a puppy..I was right and he is mine now! I don't mind at all because he is such a neat little guy. Think long and hard before you make this decision. |
