Welcome to Yorkie Talk it is addicting... My yorkie is a lover not snappy at all loves to be held by anyone even a stranger. I have raised 4 pups and they are lovers. I now have a batch of 6 pups to give the same attention too. But My daughter Has a Lhasa Apso that we raised from 6 weeks old and he will eat a stranger up. and a friend of mine raises Maltese and they are very protective. we have a Jack Russell and 1 Rat terrier and they are both friendly. all of our dogs stay outside but the Yorkie. they have all been socialized by going to the flea market or to gatherings. but for some reason the Lhasa now if he is in your arms he is fine with people but you leave him in the yard he protects. i guess natural instincts. I know nothing of the other breds. I have not had any problems of shedding or matting with the yorkie but with the others YES quite a bit even with the short hair of a jack russell and rat terrier shed shed shed. and with the Lhasa i have to keep him trimmed because he will matt up what a job that is...I hope you fine a suitable furbaby............
