Heck if someone came to pick up their puppy and they werent happy I would give their deposit back. But if people start out with a problem to commit, and then come up with excuses not to come the day of pick up, then say Ill call sometime next week, arent prepared for the dog at all, I feel are stringing me along, not to count what kind of owners they will probably be.
Im going to send all their deposit back. I wont be keeping one penny. I am under no obligation to sell to people I dont feel good about, and where would they have a case at all? I reserve the right to return a deposit for my own reasons. I have valid concerns and am not selling to them. SO they can sue me.

I didn't mean to rile you. I don't blame your for changing your mind. I'm just saying by accepting the check, you formed a contract, agreeing to hold this puppy for them and not to sell it to anyone else. So if they wanted to be nasty about it they would have a pretty strong case.

I agree with you, I wouldn't want to sell it to them either. But courts tend not to see things as black and white. There is a lot of grey inbetween.

If I gave a deposit to someone for a puppy, and I have, i would be extremely upset if they turned around and said they changed their mind. What else is the deposit for if not to make the contract binding.
