Welcome to YT. Don't listen to your Mom! Well, at least not about Yorkies.

They are the No. 2 most popular breed in America, according to the American Kennel Club. But the breed came right out of the factories of London, where they were bred to chase vermin.

They are spirited, affectionate and smart. They love to please, and they can be great traveling companions.

OK, OK, some are yappy, but they can be trained not to.

I don't leave them alone longer than 5 hours, but I know several people with eight-hour jobs who leave them at home. I guarantee that if you get one, you won't want to leave them alone longer than you have to.

And, yes, there are several members from the UK here.

Good luck making your decision! If it helps, I've never met a Yorkie owner who was disappointed in their Yorkie.
