Oxcie I want to stress that oxcytocin is a very valuable drug in the hands of an expericenced breeder. Never administer it haphazardly...it must be used in the correct dosage, at the correct times. I have never used it before the actually whelping of the first pup without the vets input and okay. It is a valuable drug for the breeder..prevents many fatal deaths and c-sections..and it is valuable to use after whelping to clean out the uterus and prevent infections.
I agree, you did all you could to save your puppy...I am not finding any fault with you in that area..everything is a learning experince and a long whelping can and does result in fatal death sometimes...and then sometimes they just do not breath and that is heart breaking. I wish you all the best with your next litters..but puppies will always die, it is a cruel fact of Mother Nature...that is why the ones that survive are so very precious to us. |
