Befor I got my girls I read as much as possible for almost a year, on the net, in books and at the library. I talked to people who were showing Yorkies here in my town and also talked to some other people who show them, and got nice references. I ended up getting the girls from a lady who shows Yorkies and came with great references. My girls parents and grandparents and on back are all champions, and the lady is very careful about her breeding practices. She never let a puppy go without a spay or neuter to homes that don't show them, and she also always has the liver shunt test done on each one. Then out of nowhere, my Zada ended up with surgery on both knees at one time due to luxating patella. You just never know regardless of how careful you are.
I'd say talk to some people who show these guys and see if they have any or know someone who does. When you do find a reputable breeder that you want to do business with, ask them for some names and numbers of people that have bought dogs from them so you can call and find out how their dogs are doing. NEVER buy a puppy sight unseen. You pick a puppy from the litter. Don't have one flown to you from somewhere. A reputable breeder will want you to come see the pups first anyway, and will always ask you a LOT of questions too. They want to be sure their pups get a good home.
