I had a hard time with Daisy the first week putting her in her x-pen, she would whine & throe one heck of a fit! But now she does just fine, when I'm cleaning, vacuuming, etc, I will usualy always put her in her x-pen to avoid accidents when I'm not able to pay close attention to what is going on.
My best guess is he knows you're around, and he's trying to get your attention to come get him..lol...give it another week, and be persistant, and I think he'll get the routine. I always put a couple of Daisy's toys in with her, and a blankie & pillow to make her more comfortable.
