I don't think just because someone takes their husbands name, it makes them a "back-burner kind of chick". I think people analyze and read too much into changing your last name. Such as this analization above. I also don't think it has anything to do with being the head of the relationship. Its just a tradition and is the final completion of two people becoming one. It doesn't make a woman any less a strong/smart woman to take her husbands last name. I personally can't wait to take my b/f's last name

It will be an exciting time to be called Mr. and Mrs._________. I have one older sister, so obviously neither one of us will carry it on, but we have plenty of boy cousin who will. But neither one of us have a middle name so our maiden will be our middle name.
