Any suggestions?
Not to be a "kill joy" but .... I tried several groomers when we first came to Colorado. Actually, I tried at first to co-ordinate her grooming/vet needs to my flights home! That didn't work for long. When I finally admitted that I needed a groomer/vet in CO, I tried a few of each. I finally found a wonderful vet that I trust completely and his office recommended a miracle groomer ... husband and wife from California!! I called them in Nov. and the very first available appointment was early January ... I snatched that appointment and thought WOW, my baby finally has the dream groomer. They told me to have her there by 7AM and she would be ready promptly at 9AM ... they would call me. I made it clear that she wasn't to be kept in a cage longer than absolutely necessary and told them what grooming I wanted. At 9AM I picked up my car keys and waited for the phone to ring .... 9:15 ... 9:30 I called them trying not to panic! I told the lady who answered who I was and asked if Toto was ready ... she went to check, came back to the phone, said "Oh, you don't have to pick her up ... your daughter's here picking her up right now". She immediately held the phone away as I was screaming "Noooooooooo ... I don't have a daughter in Colorado"!!!!!!!!!! I thought she would never come back .... and she was laughing about her "mistake"! I thought my heart would never start beating again. I rushed out and flew the four blocks to pick up my baby! I decided to try the short cut for her body, leaving her face and head long because it was getting cooler and she was wearing clothes all the time. The big day came and when I picked her up ... ... she looked like she had been cut by a weedeater!! She had really short places and other places that was twice the length in other spots ... Patrick was livid! Although she had a standing appointment, the grooming wasn't all that great and I usually wound up bathing her again in a day or two so eventually I just didn't take her back.

This was lengthy, I apologize, but the thing is ... no matter how great they sound, I would be extremely cautious until you are absolutely certain that your baby is getting the treatment that you expect. I wound up being Toto's groomer and we're doing OK! Our vet takes care of the gland and I occasionally get him to clip her nails ... yep, he does these things himself ... like I said, he's wonderful and smooches Toto all the time when he's seeing her. He would make a great Yorkie owner!!

Good luck with your groomer, I hope they are everything you expect. If they don't insist that you only come when called to pick her up, I would "pop in" just to check on her. Please let us know how it goes.
