Welcome to YorkieTalk, Marcos and Jigalo! We hope you'll come by often.

As to you questions: My Higgins had no problems when he was neutered and seemed to be his old rambunctious self within a couple of days. HOWEVER, I wouldn't travel right after the surgery. The trip will be added stress that a pup doesn't need when trying to heal. I would put off neutering him until you return from your holiday trip to Texas.

Airline travel: DO NOT let the airline put your pup in the baggage/cargo area! Much too cold and noisy and scary for a little one. Call the airline well ahead of time to find out their requirements. Most require a pup to be in an animal carrier that will fit UNDER the seat. They are usually VERY strict about the pup being IN the carrier at all times. That is a loooooong flight and will be quite stressful for him, either way.

You might consider leaving him with a trusted friend or a well-researched boarding kennel, but to tell you the truth.....I'd stay home this Christmas and enjoy him......but I'm a really protective old grandmother type.
