Due soon Thanks for the info Julz. I will try to remember those things.
I did get some reading in and know a few do's and dont's but overall, not enough to do anything in an emergency. The last delivery was mostly normal (that mommy had a few litters before) four pups born fine, except for one pups umbilical cord got ripped off its belly just after birth, and then one pup was stuck in the ribcage (already dead) so that is the one that had to come out via c-section. We had the other little one put to sleep that night becuase it was just bleeding so bad and the emergency clinic said that because of the way it tore, there was no way to fix what had happened. Both the ones that did not make it were little girls.
This is a different mommy and she is new to this as me so I am more concerned because of that. These pups are due in about a week or ten days. My little mommie is having to go out every 45 minutes or so, because she is so small that she can't hold it longer than that with her big belly. I have moved her into a little pet carrier for sleeping at night (right by my bed on a TV tray up against my nightstand so it won't fall) - just to make sure that we don't roll on her at night. We are used to sleeping with them (we have 3 that sleep with us) since when we move they move, but now she is so fat that she can't move as quickly as before, so I put her in the carrier with her balnket and I sleep with my hand in there on her. She seems to like it. I will be making her a whelping box this weekend and setting up our back room with a big sheet of laminate on the floor with a doggie play pen. This will be the home for her and the pups until they are adopted. I can keep it nice and warm and away from any visitors or my other doggies. Last time I slept in there for the first few days to keep them company. I just hope everything goes well.
I will know more tomorrow and I will keep you posted.
This is a great website and I have learned a lot just reading the other posts and now I am meeting some great yorkie's people!!
