Germany and Canada recognize them as a separate breed, and Biewer owners are currently working with AKC to separate them out as a separate breed here in the USA. But a true Biewer is not a mix. I did a little research and spent some time on Biewer-Talk because of my Sammie. Both her parents are full-blooded yorkies, but she carries the recessive gene that biewers share. (After talking to the yorkie doctor associated with AKC, there are no color-related health issues with the true Biewer.) Maybe the white is a bit more recessive??? lol. But her face doesn't look 100% yorkie. She looks a little Maltese to me in the face???? I'm glad you're going to check with your vet. I'm interested in hearing what he has to say...
Thanks I will do. I had read or seen in a post that someone had said that they thought that Biewers were a mix of a yorkie and something else way back. So thanks for straightening it out. They are very pretty dogs.

I will definitely ask the vet tonight if it's possible. Hopefully he knows.
