When I had Gabby fixed years ago (she's almost 10), she weighed about 9 pounds - she now weighs 16!! Not sure how much of the gain is attributed to the procedure or her just being "lazy". She is not over-fed, only eats once a day, and doesn't get an overabundance of treats. Vet says she's healthy though.
With Gage, when he was altered, he weighed 6 1/2 pounds, maybe closer to 7 pounds. He now weighs 9 pounds so he only gained a couple of pounds.
Since I had never planned on breeding any of the yorkies I've owned (and after experiencing one heat cycle with my first one - knew it was NOT for me), it was a "no-brainer" for me to have them "fixed". Best of luck to your little one.
