Ruby's breeder sent us home with Royal Canin too, which she refused to eat. This started our quest for the best food out there that she would eat. I too cooked chicken breast, venison, rice, vegetables and purchased 8 different dry foods over the first few months. She would eat the cooked foods okay, but not the kibbles. A good friend suggested Wysong foods, and I did get samples. Ruby loves the Nurture w/pheasant and will eat the maintenance diet they offer too.
It will not hurt your Rose to feed her some other foods, although her primary diet should be a good quality dry food.
