First off i am researching and second i think you did mean your post in a hurtful way or why would you edit it and add the end? It's people like you who make it hard for people to ask questions on hot topics for fear that they will get ignorant replies. I wasn't aware that you were a professional breeder and know enough about it to critsize me for what i am CONSIDERING Yes the puppies will look like the parents and temperment is hereditary it also states this on the AKC website here is the link http://www.akc.org/breeders/resp_breeding/steps_4.cfm It really irritates me when pople write stuuf that is hurtful and then say i don't mean this in a bad way yeah right c'mon who are you trying to convince? If you don't like a thread then don't post in it. BTW I AM RESEARCHING NOT DOING THAT IS WHY I MADE THIS THREAD TO GET ME STARTED

ohh PS it's chill not chile!
Well, I'm sincerely sorry I made you feel that way, because it was NOT the way I intended it. My "stupid" comment wasn't directed just at this thread, but the fact that we hear that reasoning given over and over.

You're right that we are told to look at the parents for an IDEA of looks/temperament, but that's just a starting place. How many tiny dogs throw large pups, and shy dogs throw sociable pups, etc?

If your dog has great qualities that's a good STARTING place, but there is absolutely no guarantee that ANY of his pups will be ANYTHING like him. For one thing, the dam will introduce a whole NEW pool of genes into the equation.

In fact, a friend of mine was just expressing to me how disappointed she was over this very thing....she had bred her dogs, and had HOPED that one would turn out like the father, and that just didn't happen in this particular litter.

By the way, telling people not to post on a thread if they don't like it is sort of like saying, "Don't tell me anything I don't want to hear". And I don't think you really feel that way, or you WOULDN'T have posted here, because you knew you'd come in for some criticism. I'm just sorry you felt like that was coming from me, because I kinda put my own butt in the sling out there with you in order to express good will. Good luck making your decision.

PS...I do think you were being a little impatient on both threads, waiting for replies , but I didn't mean "HONEY, CHILL" I did mean "honey chile", as in "honey child". I'm from the south.
