WHAT made that loving, family pet snap and attack someone? And then the owner says, 'This is the first time my dog has ever done this." It's just a little strange to me. WHAT made that dog snap?
One news report said the pit that attacked the little 5 year old girl and killed her just the other day was frightened by fireworks. You can't control something like that.

I think just about any breed of dog may bite -- the difference comes when one leaves a scratch or tiny puncture and one rips the face up or the jugular out. This is a subject that will always have two sides. People who have always been around them will always extol their virtues and those who know of or have been moved by a child's death or disfigurement will think them too dangerous. I would never be able to live with myself if my choice in a dog wound up costing an innocent child their life. I won't ever take that chance.
