In my experience, my puppies chewed on anything they could find - didn't matter what it was (that's why I have to replace the floor in my kitchen - yep, chewed a nice hole in the middle of my linoleum floor). I think when Gabby did this, she was mad as heck at us for leaving her home while we went to work. We began crating her while we were gone and she either got the message or grew out of the phase. As long as you provide them with their stuff (toys, old socks, chews, etc) to chew on, it should help to stop chewing on things you don't want them chewing on. You might can do a search of other threads on biting for more information and help. Puppies take a lot of patience to work through their stages of growth, just like a baby.
