It sounds like you are making the right decision, but I'm sorry that you are going through all of this. I don't agree with what the breeder has done at all. If the breeder charged you an extra fee to have breeding rights and Max will not be of breeding quality, the breeder should at least refund that portion of your money to you. In addition, I don't like that the health guarantee does not transfer with him because that to me sounds like the guarantee was only there for reputation purposes only. What I mean by that is that the breeder doesn't sound very concerned about the pup's wellbeing and that the guarantee was offered because it was "the thing to do".

Good luck in finding Max a home. I know of a few people who have had to let their males go because they didn't turn out to be of breeding quality and you might want to consider having him neutered before selling him. Only suggesting this because some people won't care if he is or isn't breeding quality and will want to take advantage of the pet price. Good luck!
