Max HATES the snow and I tried to train him use a litter pan when we first got him during really cold winter months but he would NOT use it. It was really confusing for him when I brought out the pan because I was already taking him outside. When I tried to use the pan he would stand in it and whine--he just wouldn't use it--I don't think he really understood what it was for. So when it's snowing--even a dusting--I shovel or sweep an area for him away from the wind. He still doesn't like it because he hates the cold in general and his paws get cold but I just make sure he's wearing his warm winter coat. I've had him during 3 winters so far and you'd think he'd get used to the cold since it's all he knows but he still HATES it.
