Just for starters, if you're registered w/ the AKC and even if the dog is/isn't neutered/spayed you can compete in Rally Obedience; Obedience; Fly ball; Agility; Tracking....the list goes on. I guess I should start a thread on this sometime. People NEED to know that they're not limited when they hear the negative conotation of "Pet Quality" Yorkie. It really shouldn't be considered a negative, you just shouldn't necc. breed those dogs that's all. Doesn't mean they have to stay at home and do nothing but be cute. Which, no doubt they do well.  |
If I'm not mistaken you can compete in those events at AKC shows even if your dog isn't registered with AKC. We were looking at raisig Austrailian Shepards and the majority of the ones are registered with the ASCA. Anyway I checked with AKC and their rules alow non-AKC dogs in non-comformation events.
