I've just gone thru this with one of mine. I had tried different shampoos (oatmeal etc...) but no relief. Was using Nutro lamb and rice and Brandy was itchy and her coat didn't look as healthy as it should. I switched to Royal Canin which (I soon discovered) has corn in it. The itching got much worse. I wanted to try the Canidae but couldn't find it locally so I switched to Califonia Natural and the itching has completely stopped. It's only been a couple weeks so I can't report on any coat changes yet. From what I have read, they can be allergic to almost anything. Corn and wheat are biggies. Also avoid soy. If in addition to itching your dog is licking it's feet, I think diet is probably the issue.
