Why don't you just talk to your vet about how uncomfortable you are leaving her in the clinic with nobody there? You do have valid concerns. Do you have other dogs at home where they could be disruptive to Gracie? If not, I don't see a reason why you couldn't bring her home. Maybe do a compromise where you can pick her up about 9 pm and take her home with you for the evening and take her back the next morning for a check up.
Bailey was 7 mo when she was spayed.
I would do what makes you the most comfortable, having an unsupervised dog would not make me comfortable. Bailey did cry during the night and I just soothed her until she went back to sleep. I had her on the floor next to my bed instead of in it.
