Until I entered the dog show world almost 30 years ago I never heard of things like this. Years ago a handler wouldn't even take your dog unless it was de-barked so maybe I am just more used to the idea. It is not anything like de-clawing a cat there are no stichs nothing is cut off , it only takes about three minutes to do. By the time a puppy is 6 months old you can tell if it is a big trouble maker or not, and if it is something I plan on keeping and showing I need his mouth to fit into my lifestyle so while he is in for any reason , like removing baby teeth my vet just turns down the sound a bit. Now I think the naugthy dogs make the best show dogs, most of you get the pet ones , a little more sweet , and they just sit in your laps all day , just what do they have to bark about????.
I go to a vet that does a lot of breeders dogs , lots!!!! So I am not the only one. I have a total of seven dogs here, not that many but with out the de-barking on a few of them it would sound like fifty.

Please note that there are a few risks to this, including death. It is not something you should jump into with out a great vet and a lot of thought. I just hate the sound of everyones barking dogs all day long. Mine only bark while they are outside and that is when I need them to use their indoor voices. Again this is what works for me it is not for everyone.

Barking can drive a lot of people nuts, and yes if you only have one or two you should be able to train them.
