we do a bit of both with layla... my mom just hand fed her because she hadn't eaten much today. but if we left it.. eventually she would get hungry and eat it.. clearly he LIKES the food since he eats when you feed him... layla will go all day an not eat.. then around 8 or 9 at night.. just pig out.. she seems to be a night eater... but if i get worried about her.. i'll hand feed. he WILL eat if he is hungry!
