I already purchased a female puppy from the same mother as my first, but she won't be born until early February and won't be with me until early to mid April. I just wanted to get a head start on whether I should buy a separate crate for the puppy or if I should crate them together. The crate Maizee currently occupies is large enough for the both of them, but I didn't know if separate crates would be better. By that time, Maizee will be about 1 year and 8 months old. I don't know if age plays a factor. I was just throwing it out there. What does everyone else do?
I have two crated together. One is about four years older than the other. The older pup took on a motherly instinct. However, now they do sleep well without each other. When I take them to the groomers, they cause a rite if not placed in the same crate. They are very close and I feel that when one is gone the other one will have a very difficult time adjusting. It has both advantages and disadvantages.
