I prefer girls too...Usually an adult knows that an animal is a baby...she might not like her right away (I don't think she would like a boy right away either) but, she shouldn't hurt her...I had Sadie for 2 1/2 yrs and then brought another little girl home...Sadie's nose was out of joint for a while and she did growl at Lillie but she never hurt her...took Sadie a couple of weeks to warm up to Lillie...now they are best buddies...well almost best buddies!!
