I may be mean, but I don't routinely just put down babies, as long as they are willing to fight for their life than I am too. The majority of vets will recommend putting down cleft palates, but there are a couple on here that the owners have raised and definitely are worth the effort in my opinion. I think that "toughness" comes when you breed a lot of dogs and there is always a next litter to move on to. I also breed parrots and I am a lot more "calloused" with them, but wasn't when I first started out and only a few were born, but now I handraise so many I seem to have that attitude with them, unfortunately. It is true though that most with respiratory difficulties don't survive the first 24 to 48 hours.
He is fighting, poor baby but he is really doing well. I am going to take him to the vet shortly and the vet said to bring the mom and 2 pups in. I am going to do whatever it takes. I believe this one can be saved, he does not seem to be suffering, just trying hard. I will hold the mom so they can nurse. So far she is following me around and wants to be with me. Earlier I held her for about 20 mins petting her and then reched for the two puppies and had them join us. She stayed for about 1-2 mins and then got up and left me with the babies. I will keep trying and supplementing.

Thank you all again so much!
