If we leave Max home alone, he's got free run of the entire house (other than the cat's room where they are confined and I wouldn't mind him staying with them, but he gets into their food and I'm afraid he might get into the litter box if left unsupervised
). He usually stays on our bed and sleeps I think when we're gone. He never has gotten into anything or been destructive. When he was a puppy, before he was housebroken, we'd put his crate (with the door open) and food and water into a bathroom and close the door. He's a very good boy and we don't leave him alone very often. We also leave the television on for him.
